Vous tournez la cl\u00e9\u2026 et rien. Pas de d\u00e9marrage. Dans bien des cas, la cause est simple : la batterie est d\u00e9charg\u00e9e. Un plafonnier oubli\u00e9, des phares rest\u00e9s allum\u00e9s ou simplement le froid hivernal peuvent suffire \u00e0 vider une batterie affaiblie.<\/p>\n<p>Inutile de penser imm\u00e9diatement au remplacement. Avec un c\u00e2ble de d\u00e9marrage et un second v\u00e9hicule, on peut souvent repartir en quelques minutes. Encore faut-il savoir s\u2019y prendre correctement.<\/p>\n<h2>Pourquoi avoir un c\u00e2ble de d\u00e9marrage dans le coffre ?<\/h2>\n<p>Une batterie peut l\u00e2cher sans pr\u00e9venir. C\u2019est pour cette raison qu\u2019un c\u00e2ble de d\u00e9marrage devrait toujours faire partie de l\u2019\u00e9quipement de base, au m\u00eame titre que le triangle de signalisation.<\/p>\n<p>Avec l\u2019aide d\u2019un autre conducteur, la batterie d\u00e9charg\u00e9e peut recevoir suffisamment d\u2019\u00e9nergie pour red\u00e9marrer le moteur. Sa dur\u00e9e de vie est limit\u00e9e. \u00c0 ce stade, le remplacement devient in\u00e9vitable.<\/p>\n\n<h2>\u00c0 quoi sert exactement le c\u00e2ble de d\u00e9marrage ?<\/h2>\n<p>Le c\u00e2ble relie la batterie d\u2019un v\u00e9hicule en \u00e9tat de marche \u00e0 celle du v\u00e9hicule en panne. Si les marquages ne sont pas visibles ou si vous avez un doute, mieux vaut demander conseil \u00e0 un professionnel.<\/p>\n<p>Lorsque la voiture est stationn\u00e9e \u00e0 proximit\u00e9 d\u2019une prise de courant, un chargeur de batterie domestique peut \u00e9galement faire l\u2019affaire. On le branche pendant plusieurs heures, souvent toute une nuit, pour recharger lentement la batterie.<\/p>\n<h2>Quel c\u00e2ble de d\u00e9marrage choisir ?<\/h2>\n<p>Tous les c\u00e2bles ne se valent pas. Il faut un mod\u00e8le suffisamment dimensionn\u00e9 pour supporter l\u2019intensit\u00e9 n\u00e9cessaire au d\u00e9marrage. Les r\u00e9f\u00e9rences aux normes ISO 6722 ou DIN 72.553 donnent une indication fiable sur la qualit\u00e9.<\/p>\n<p>Un bon c\u00e2ble reste souple, m\u00eame par temps froid, et ses pinces sont bien isol\u00e9es. Seules les surfaces de contact sont m\u00e9talliques. C\u2019est un d\u00e9tail important pour \u00e9viter les courts-circuits accidentels.<\/p>\n\n<h2>Comment brancher correctement le c\u00e2ble de d\u00e9marrage ?<\/h2>\n<p>Avant toute chose, pensez \u00e0 votre s\u00e9curit\u00e9. Si vous \u00eates immobilis\u00e9 sur une route fr\u00e9quent\u00e9e, enfilez votre gilet de s\u00e9curit\u00e9 avant de sortir du v\u00e9hicule et placez le triangle de signalisation.<\/p>\n<p>Les deux voitures doivent \u00eatre positionn\u00e9es suffisamment pr\u00e8s l\u2019une de l\u2019autre, sans se toucher. Coupez les moteurs et mettez les v\u00e9hicules au point mort.<\/p>\n<p>On commence toujours par le c\u00e2ble rouge :<\/p>\n<p>Fixez d\u2019abord la pince rouge sur la borne positive de la batterie d\u00e9charg\u00e9e. Ensuite seulement, reliez l\u2019autre extr\u00e9mit\u00e9 rouge \u00e0 la borne positive de la batterie du v\u00e9hicule d\u2019assistance.<\/p>\n<p>Puis vient le c\u00e2ble noir :<\/p>\n<p>Branchez-le d\u2019abord sur la borne n\u00e9gative de la batterie du v\u00e9hicule d\u2019assistance. L\u2019autre extr\u00e9mit\u00e9 ne doit pas \u00eatre fix\u00e9e sur la borne n\u00e9gative de la batterie vide, mais sur une partie m\u00e9tallique non peinte du moteur ou de la carrosserie du v\u00e9hicule en panne. Cette pr\u00e9caution limite les risques d\u2019\u00e9tincelles \u00e0 proximit\u00e9 de la batterie.<\/p>\n<p>D\u00e9marrez maintenant le v\u00e9hicule d\u2019assistance. Laissez-le tourner quelques instants, puis essayez de d\u00e9marrer le v\u00e9hicule en panne. N\u2019insistez pas trop longtemps sur le d\u00e9marreur. Si le moteur ne part pas, attendez un peu avant de r\u00e9essayer.<\/p>\n<p>Une fois le moteur d\u00e9marr\u00e9, allumez les principaux consommateurs \u00e9lectriques du v\u00e9hicule d\u00e9pann\u00e9 : phares, ventilation, d\u00e9givrage. Cela permet d\u2019absorber d\u2019\u00e9ventuels pics de tension et de prot\u00e9ger l\u2019\u00e9lectronique.<\/p>\n<p>Si apr\u00e8s trois tentatives le moteur refuse toujours de d\u00e9marrer, mieux vaut arr\u00eater l\u00e0. Continuer risquerait d\u2019endommager les deux v\u00e9hicules. Dans ce cas, faites appel \u00e0 un sp\u00e9cialiste.<\/p>\n<p>Pour retirer les c\u00e2bles, proc\u00e9dez strictement dans l\u2019ordre inverse. D\u00e9branchez d\u2019abord le c\u00e2ble noir du v\u00e9hicule d\u00e9pann\u00e9, puis du v\u00e9hicule d\u2019assistance. Ensuite seulement, retirez le c\u00e2ble rouge.<\/p>\n<p>Apr\u00e8s le red\u00e9marrage, roulez au moins une heure si possible. Un court trajet ne suffit souvent pas \u00e0 recharger compl\u00e8tement la batterie.
