Ensemble, ils absorbent les irr\u00e9gularit\u00e9s de la route et maintiennent les roues en contact permanent avec l\u2019asphalte. C\u2019est gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 eux que la voiture reste stable, m\u00eame lorsque la chauss\u00e9e n\u2019est pas parfaite. En th\u00e9orie, un ressort est con\u00e7u pour durer toute la vie du v\u00e9hicule.<\/p>\n<p>Dans la pratique, les choses se passent parfois autrement. Des charges r\u00e9p\u00e9t\u00e9es, la corrosion ou un d\u00e9faut du mat\u00e9riau peuvent fragiliser l\u2019acier. Lorsqu\u2019un ressort casse, la voiture change de comportement. La direction devient moins pr\u00e9cise, la tenue de route para\u00eet molle et des bruits m\u00e9talliques apparaissent du c\u00f4t\u00e9 du passage de roue concern\u00e9. La rupture peut s\u2019accompagner d\u2019un claquement sec ou d\u2019une l\u00e9g\u00e8re secousse dans le volant. Parfois, elle passe presque inaper\u00e7ue, surtout \u00e0 faible vitesse.<\/p>\n<h2>Direction impr\u00e9cise et cliquetis : des signaux \u00e0 prendre au s\u00e9rieux<\/h2>\n<p>Le conducteur remarque souvent le probl\u00e8me en premier. La voiture semble moins stable, la direction manque de fermet\u00e9 et des bruits de cliquetis apparaissent sur les irr\u00e9gularit\u00e9s. Si ces signes se manifestent, il vaut mieux s\u2019arr\u00eater et jeter un \u0153il dans le passage de roue pour v\u00e9rifier l\u2019\u00e9tat des ressorts.<\/p>\n<p>Un ressort cass\u00e9 ne provoque pas forc\u00e9ment un danger imm\u00e9diat. Le v\u00e9hicule reste g\u00e9n\u00e9ralement roulant. Vous pouvez donc rejoindre un atelier sans faire appel \u00e0 une d\u00e9panneuse. Toutefois, il ne faut pas tarder. Un ressort d\u00e9fectueux surcharge l\u2019amortisseur, qui risque alors de s\u2019user pr\u00e9matur\u00e9ment.<\/p>\n<p>Pour \u00e9viter des frais suppl\u00e9mentaires, mieux vaut remplacer rapidement le ressort endommag\u00e9. Les professionnels changent toujours les ressorts par paire sur le m\u00eame essieu. Cette approche garantit un \u00e9quilibre identique des deux c\u00f4t\u00e9s. Remplacer un seul ressort cr\u00e9e une diff\u00e9rence de tension entre l\u2019ancien et le nouveau, ce qui peut d\u00e9s\u00e9quilibrer la tenue de route.<\/p>\n<p>Les nouveaux ressorts doivent aussi correspondre aux amortisseurs d\u00e9j\u00e0 mont\u00e9s. Selon le v\u00e9hicule, diff\u00e9rentes gammes sont disponibles. Dans un atelier bien \u00e9quip\u00e9, le remplacement des deux ressorts d\u2019un essieu prend g\u00e9n\u00e9ralement environ une heure.<\/p>\n<h2>R\u00e9duire les contraintes pour pr\u00e9server les ressorts de suspension<\/h2>\n<p>On ne peut pas \u00e9viter toutes les routes ab\u00eem\u00e9es, mais une conduite attentive limite les contraintes inutiles. \u00c9vitez les nids-de-poule lorsque c\u2019est possible et montez les trottoirs avec prudence, voire pas du tout.<\/p>\n<p>Lors du changement saisonnier des roues, profitez-en pour inspecter les ressorts. Sur un pont \u00e9l\u00e9vateur, il est plus facile de rep\u00e9rer une fissure ou une zone rouill\u00e9e.
