Sur les v\u00e9hicules \u00e9quip\u00e9s de suspensions \u00e0 roues ind\u00e9pendantes, elle occupe pourtant une place centrale dans le syst\u00e8me de direction. On la trouve quasiment toujours sur l\u2019essieu avant, o\u00f9 elle assure la liaison entre le moyeu de roue, la suspension et les \u00e9l\u00e9ments de direction, tout en permettant \u00e0 la roue de tourner et de s\u2019orienter.<\/p>\n<p>Dans son fonctionnement quotidien, la fus\u00e9e d\u2019essieu encaisse beaucoup\u00a0: le poids du v\u00e9hicule, les efforts lat\u00e9raux en virage et les contraintes li\u00e9es au freinage. Malgr\u00e9 cela, elle est con\u00e7ue pour durer longtemps. Lorsqu\u2019une usure appara\u00eet ou qu\u2019un choc l\u2019endommage, l\u2019intervention ne peut toutefois pas \u00eatre prise \u00e0 la l\u00e9g\u00e8re, car la pr\u00e9cision de la direction et la s\u00e9curit\u00e9 en d\u00e9pendent directement.<\/p>\n<h2>Comment reconna\u00eetre une fus\u00e9e d\u2019essieu d\u00e9fectueuse\u00a0?<\/h2>\n<p>Sur l\u2019essieu avant, un des premiers signes qui doit alerter est une sensation de flottement, ressentie \u00e0 la fois dans les roues et dans le volant, surtout en virage. Quand ce type de comportement se manifeste, l\u2019usure de la fus\u00e9e ou de ses roulements est souvent d\u00e9j\u00e0 bien avanc\u00e9e.<\/p>\n<p>La direction devient alors moins franche, avec un temps de r\u00e9action inhabituel et un jeu qui n\u2019\u00e9tait pas pr\u00e9sent auparavant. Le v\u00e9hicule peut sembler instable, parfois m\u00eame impr\u00e9cis \u00e0 basse vitesse. Il arrive aussi d\u2019entendre des claquements ou des cognements sur route d\u00e9grad\u00e9e ou au freinage. Ces sympt\u00f4mes ne sont pas toujours faciles \u00e0 interpr\u00e9ter, car ils peuvent \u00e9galement provenir d\u2019autres \u00e9l\u00e9ments du train roulant, y compris \u00e0 l\u2019arri\u00e8re du v\u00e9hicule.<\/p>\n<h2>Est-il possible de peindre une fus\u00e9e d\u2019essieu\u00a0?<\/h2>\n<p>Selon l\u2019usage du v\u00e9hicule, les fus\u00e9es d\u2019essieu peuvent \u00eatre soumises \u00e0 une usure pr\u00e9matur\u00e9e. C\u2019est souvent le cas en conduite tout-terrain, lors de franchissements r\u00e9p\u00e9t\u00e9s de bordures ou sur des routes tr\u00e8s d\u00e9grad\u00e9es. Les parties situ\u00e9es \u00e0 l\u2019avant du ch\u00e2ssis sont naturellement les plus expos\u00e9es.<\/p>\n<p>Pour limiter les effets de la corrosion, il est tout \u00e0 fait possible d\u2019appliquer une peinture de protection adapt\u00e9e. Des peintures de type Hammerite, des peintures industrielles de bonne qualit\u00e9 ou encore des peintures riches en zinc offrent de bons r\u00e9sultats. Avant l\u2019application, un nettoyage soigneux s\u2019impose, ainsi que l\u2019\u00e9limination de toute trace de rouille. En revanche, les traitements chimiques trop agressifs sont rarement n\u00e9cessaires et peuvent parfois faire plus de mal que de bien.<\/p>\n<h2>Comment contr\u00f4ler l\u2019\u00e9tat d\u2019une fus\u00e9e d\u2019essieu\u00a0?<\/h2>\n<p>Lorsqu\u2019un doute existe, la premi\u00e8re \u00e9tape consiste \u00e0 \u00e9carter d\u2019autres causes possibles, comme un roulement de roue d\u00e9fectueux. Le contr\u00f4le se fait de pr\u00e9f\u00e9rence sur un pont \u00e9l\u00e9vateur et n\u00e9cessite g\u00e9n\u00e9ralement l\u2019aide d\u2019une seconde personne.<\/p>\n<p>Une fois le v\u00e9hicule lev\u00e9, faites tourner la roue \u00e0 la main. Si la rotation est r\u00e9guli\u00e8re, sans bruit suspect ni point dur, le roulement est en principe en bon \u00e9tat. Ensuite, saisissez la roue par le haut et par le bas et essayez de la faire bouger. Pendant ce test, l\u2019assistant observe les articulations de la fus\u00e9e et les autres composants de la suspension. Un jeu excessif permet souvent d\u2019identifier rapidement l\u2019\u00e9l\u00e9ment en cause.<\/p>\n<h2>Peut-on r\u00e9parer une fus\u00e9e d\u2019essieu soi-m\u00eame\u00a0?<\/h2>\n<p>Lorsque l\u2019usure concerne uniquement les roulements, une r\u00e9paration reste envisageable \u00e0 l\u2019aide d\u2019un kit adapt\u00e9, g\u00e9n\u00e9ralement \u00e0 un co\u00fbt raisonnable. En revanche, le remplacement complet des roulements ou du porte-moyeu demande bien souvent des outils sp\u00e9cifiques et, dans de nombreux cas, l\u2019utilisation d\u2019une presse hydraulique.<\/p>\n<p>Dans ce contexte, les ateliers ind\u00e9pendants peuvent rendre service, ne serait-ce que pour b\u00e9n\u00e9ficier d\u2019un pont \u00e9l\u00e9vateur ou de conseils pratiques. Quelle que soit l\u2019intervention r\u00e9alis\u00e9e, un contr\u00f4le suivi d\u2019un r\u00e9glage de la g\u00e9om\u00e9trie du ch\u00e2ssis est indispensable. C\u2019est la condition pour retrouver une direction pr\u00e9cise et un comportement routier sain.<\/p>\n<p>Il faut garder \u00e0 l\u2019esprit que le contr\u00f4le du jeu aux roues n\u2019est possible qu\u2019avec le v\u00e9hicule lev\u00e9. En cas de rupture de la fus\u00e9e d\u2019essieu, les cons\u00e9quences peuvent \u00eatre graves. Apr\u00e8s un remplacement, un r\u00e9glage complet de la direction ne doit jamais \u00eatre n\u00e9glig\u00e9.<\/p>\n<h2>Proc\u00e9dure g\u00e9n\u00e9rale de remplacement d\u2019une fus\u00e9e d\u2019essieu<\/h2>\n<p>Une fois le v\u00e9hicule correctement immobilis\u00e9 sur le pont, commencez par desserrer les boulons et retirer la roue concern\u00e9e. D\u00e9posez ensuite les fixations du flexible de frein, puis l\u2019\u00e9trier de frein afin de le d\u00e9gager. Retirez la goupille de s\u00e9curit\u00e9 et l\u2019\u00e9crou du moyeu.<\/p>\n<p>D\u00e9vissez ensuite le disque de frein et retirez-le. Enlevez la goupille fendue, desserrez l\u2019\u00e9crou de la rotule et d\u00e9saccouplez-la. Desserrez les \u00e9crous autobloquants et les boulons de l\u2019amortisseur. Une fois ces \u00e9l\u00e9ments d\u00e9pos\u00e9s, retirez le joint ext\u00e9rieur de l\u2019arbre de transmission et extrayez la fus\u00e9e d\u2019essieu.<\/p>\n<p>Le montage de la nouvelle pi\u00e8ce s\u2019effectue en suivant strictement les \u00e9tapes dans l\u2019ordre inverse.
