L\u2019air entre par la soupape d\u2019admission, le m\u00e9lange est comprim\u00e9, puis les gaz br\u00fbl\u00e9s sont \u00e9vacu\u00e9s par la soupape d\u2019\u00e9chappement. Pendant la phase de combustion, les deux soupapes restent ferm\u00e9es afin de comprimer correctement le m\u00e9lange air-carburant. Pour que le moteur fonctionne de mani\u00e8re efficace, les temps d\u2019ouverture et de fermeture doivent se chevaucher avec pr\u00e9cision et s\u2019adapter au r\u00e9gime ainsi qu\u2019\u00e0 la temp\u00e9rature. Cette synchronisation d\u00e9pend directement de l\u2019arbre \u00e0 cames.<\/p>\n<h2>Informations de base sur l\u2019arbre \u00e0 cames<\/h2>\n<p>L\u2019arbre \u00e0 cames est g\u00e9n\u00e9ralement fabriqu\u00e9 en fonte. Les cames et les port\u00e9es de roulement subissent un traitement thermique afin de r\u00e9sister \u00e0 l\u2019usure. \u00c0 l\u2019int\u00e9rieur, de fins canaux permettent \u00e0 l\u2019huile moteur, envoy\u00e9e sous pression par la pompe \u00e0 huile depuis le carter, de lubrifier les paliers et les cames.<\/p>\n<p>Selon la conception du moteur, les cames actionnent les soupapes soit directement via des poussoirs hydrauliques ou des pastilles, soit indirectement par l\u2019interm\u00e9diaire de culbuteurs. Sur de nombreux moteurs modernes, on trouve deux arbres \u00e0 cames, notamment lorsque les soupapes d\u2019admission et d\u2019\u00e9chappement sont command\u00e9es s\u00e9par\u00e9ment.<\/p>\n<p>L\u2019entra\u00eenement de l\u2019arbre \u00e0 cames se fait par courroie dent\u00e9e ou par cha\u00eene de distribution. Dans les deux cas, le mouvement provient du vilebrequin. Cette liaison m\u00e9canique impose un calage pr\u00e9cis. Si la synchronisation se d\u00e9r\u00e8gle, le moteur perd imm\u00e9diatement en r\u00e9gularit\u00e9.<\/p>\n<h2>Entretien de l\u2019arbre \u00e0 cames<\/h2>\n<p>La long\u00e9vit\u00e9 de l\u2019arbre \u00e0 cames d\u00e9pend en grande partie de la qualit\u00e9 de l\u2019entretien. Sur les moteurs \u00e9quip\u00e9s d\u2019une cha\u00eene de distribution, l\u2019huile moteur lubrifie aussi bien la cha\u00eene que les rails de guidage. Les tendeurs hydrauliques utilisent la pression d\u2019huile pour maintenir la tension correcte. Lorsqu\u2019ils se vident d\u2019huile apr\u00e8s une longue immobilisation, un cliquetis peut appara\u00eetre au d\u00e9marrage. Le bruit dispara\u00eet g\u00e9n\u00e9ralement une fois que la pression d\u2019huile se r\u00e9tablit.<\/p>\n<p>Un nuage bleu \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9chappement au d\u00e9marrage, qui s\u2019estompe rapidement, indique souvent des joints de tige de soupape us\u00e9s. L\u2019huile s\u2019\u00e9coule alors dans la chambre de combustion pendant l\u2019arr\u00eat. Ce ph\u00e9nom\u00e8ne ne doit pas \u00eatre ignor\u00e9, car une lubrification insuffisante au d\u00e9marrage acc\u00e9l\u00e8re l\u2019usure interne.<\/p>\n<p>Un joint d\u00e9fectueux au niveau du vilebrequin peut laisser passer l\u2019huile vers la distribution. Si la courroie dent\u00e9e se contamine, elle risque de glisser. Le calage se modifie alors et le moteur tourne de fa\u00e7on irr\u00e9guli\u00e8re. Dans les cas extr\u00eames, les soupapes peuvent entrer en contact avec les pistons, ce qui entra\u00eene des dommages majeurs.<\/p>\n<h3>Courroie et cha\u00eene de distribution<\/h3>\n<p>Les intervalles de remplacement de la courroie dent\u00e9e doivent \u00eatre respect\u00e9s sans exception. Le changement inclut g\u00e9n\u00e9ralement les galets tendeurs et la pompe \u00e0 eau lorsque celle-ci est entra\u00een\u00e9e par la courroie. Remettre en place une ancienne courroie apr\u00e8s intervention expose le moteur \u00e0 un risque inutile.<\/p>\n<p>Les cha\u00eenes de distribution s\u2019usent diff\u00e9remment. Elles peuvent s\u2019allonger avec le temps. Lorsque le tendeur ne compense plus correctement cette extension, le calage perd en pr\u00e9cision. Sur de nombreux moteurs, un contr\u00f4le s\u2019impose entre 150 000 et 200 000 kilom\u00e8tres, m\u00eame en l\u2019absence de pr\u00e9conisation stricte.<\/p>\n<h3>Huile moteur, vidange et filtre<\/h3>\n<p>La qualit\u00e9 de l\u2019huile moteur joue un r\u00f4le central. Elle doit correspondre aux sp\u00e9cifications du constructeur et \u00e0 la viscosit\u00e9 adapt\u00e9e aux conditions climatiques. Une huile inadapt\u00e9e compromet la lubrification des cames et des paliers.<\/p>\n<p>Le filtre \u00e0 huile m\u00e9rite la m\u00eame attention. Lorsqu\u2019il se colmate, une soupape de d\u00e9rivation laisse passer l\u2019huile sans filtration fine. Les particules circulent alors dans le moteur et peuvent obstruer des canaux d\u2019huile, ce qui acc\u00e9l\u00e8re l\u2019usure de l\u2019arbre \u00e0 cames.<\/p>\n<h2>Arbre \u00e0 cames : autres causes de dommages<\/h2>\n<p>Une lubrification correcte ne suffit pas toujours. Sur certains moteurs, des arbres \u00e0 cames de qualit\u00e9 inf\u00e9rieure ont pr\u00e9sent\u00e9 une usure pr\u00e9matur\u00e9e ou des fissures. Dans ce type de situation, il vaut mieux v\u00e9rifier si le constructeur a reconnu un d\u00e9faut de s\u00e9rie.<\/p>\n<p>Des probl\u00e8mes d\u2019\u00e9tanch\u00e9it\u00e9 peuvent \u00e9galement provoquer des d\u00e9g\u00e2ts indirects. Sur certains moteurs, un joint radial d\u2019arbre \u00e0 cames d\u00e9faillant a laiss\u00e9 passer l\u2019huile vers le faisceau \u00e9lectrique, ce qui a entra\u00een\u00e9 des dysfonctionnements \u00e9lectroniques. Ces cas rappellent qu\u2019un contr\u00f4le r\u00e9gulier reste indispensable, m\u00eame sur un v\u00e9hicule r\u00e9cent.<\/p>\n<div class=\"product-slider\" style=\"--swiper-theme-color:
